On being Asian

So today my class planned a boycott of our Indonesian oral exam - we would just go in and insist that we didn't know it was today, easy as. How do you prounounce "Ibu Nenen"?

My oral exam is like a verbal comprehension test - give a summary of the article and answer questions posed by Ibu-Ibu who always spring the most expected questions but am always at a loss for words - so I ended up tersenyum a lot in my exam (dan waktu Ibu-Ibu berkata-kata yang saya tidak mengerti, saya selalu tersenyum >.<)

Your class sounds like an extremely big class...

We had to prepare a pidato, although i'd really prefer an oral exam like yours, it tests our mastery of the language better. We had that in Salatiga and i just kept talking (and going off topic) instead of banyak tersenyum.. they were looking for our ability to talk rather than our ability to answer the question anyway :P anyway my class isn't that big, perhaps about 10 people?

I perform better in written tests. My class this semester had 18 people but we had 2 separate sessions for each of the 3 2-hour tutorials - one of which I was late for EVERY WEEK WITHOUT FAIL :( hopefully the banyak tersenyum helped...
