OK...I don't post here very, and usually I avoid serious subjects... but I simply have to voice this...
How stupid does McCain think people are? Does he not recognize how obvious his motives are?
OK...let's just take a second to go through the main reasons for which a VP is usually chosen and see if they apply...

She's got five kiddos, including a new baby born in April.
Those babies need their mom right now. I'm a feminist, and every instinct in me says that no woman should shatter the glass ceiling at the expense of her kids. If McCain wanted the female vote so bad, he should've picked a woman with a very different family situation.
Even more, look at McCain's body language through her speech. He can't sit down - he doesn't trust her to stand up there on her own. It's amazing she can even deliver her speech with Mr. McJumpy at her elbow, ready to take over the mic if/when she screws up.
I worry that with her family of such young kids, plus her lack of experience, her time and skills just aren't there. As a result, I also worry that mcCain's just picking the equivalent of a trophy veep. A nice-looking figurehead on the ship-o' McCain. And if that happens, then we're just making a travesty of this glass ceiling business. Who'll have respect for a woman in the White House after that?
As a good friend of mine pointed out,
"When Walter Mondale was going to lose to Reagan, he picked a woman as his VP candidate. And this is just so similar."
