Complete Befuddlement...

OK...I don't post here very, and usually I avoid serious subjects... but I simply have to voice this...

How stupid does McCain think people are?  Does he not recognize how obvious his motives are?

OK...let's just take a second to go through the main reasons for which a VP is usually chosen and see if they apply...

1.  They bring some kind of experience to the ticket that the candidate lacks.
This would be the reason Obama picked Biden.  In theory McCain could have picked someone who had really good economic experience, something he generally lacks.

Palin has been governor for less than 2 years...If this counts as enough experience then McCain doesn't have a leg to stand on going after Obama's lack of experience since he's been in major office for 50% longer than her.

2.  They ran an excellent primary campaign and got a lot of primary votes that they can bring back to the general election.
The "why Obama should have picked Hillary" argument, or the "unify the party" argument.  McCain could have picked Romney or Huckabee, in theory shoring up his support with the christian right, and the conservative base that didn't support him in the primary.

Palin wasn't a primary candidate, so no dice here.

3.  They come from a very important swing state or high elector count state.
Um...Alaska is worth 3 electoral votes...that's less than the smallest state in the union!  Rhode Island is worth 4.  So yeah not such a critical state.

4. They are a popular moderate who have a good chance of pulling in votes from the other parties and non-afilliated voters.
This was the supposition behind McCain possibly picking Joe Lieberman.

Palin is a pretty hard line conservative who is pro-life, big on gun rights, etc...  Not really appealing to the ideals of those in the middle.

5.  They are a highly popular, well known face with a lot of supporters.
Up untill today almost nobody had heard of Palin outside of Alaskans.  The internet is currently bogged down with people looking up who the f#*$ she is!

6.  They are someone who the candidate has lots of experience working with thus making them an excellent partner.
Palin has had no signifigant interaction with John McCain prior to this election.

So yeah...those are all the major reasons I can think of and she doesn't fit any one of them...so what seperates her from just about any other Republican out there?  Oh yeah she's a female!  Yeah...good job McCain!  Very Subtle!  All of Hillary's supporters will certainly turn around and vote for you now.  All those feminists won't be able to turn down the opportunity to vote in the first Female VP, even if she stands against the feminists on almost all the issues they care about...  Good Choice John!  Dumbass...
