I'm not sure if the US is getting coverage of the remarkable amounts of snow we've been getting here in the UK. If you haven't heard, well, it's been snowing pretty consistently for the better portion of a month now. Temperatures haven't risen above freezing for more than a few brief moments, so the land remains covered in snow. London is iron and ice.
It's unrelenting, but so beautiful. I plan on taking a walk down to Old Camberwell Cemetery soon (it's just at the bottom of the hill on which I live) to take some photos. My favourite time is in the early evening, when the fog and mist gathers. Mist in a snow-covered graveyard is just...I can't really describe the romance.
I found a photo that I took during the early spring of 2009 in Old Camberwell Cemetery. The appearance of new daffodils and crocuses is the telltale sign of spring coming to London. So here: a moment of last year's emergence from winter, in one of my most loved places.
I will be documenting this year's springtime in the graveyard, as well.
Love from the frozen Island,
Alyson
