Eating meat is an activity that I cannot support. I won't explore the reasons in depth, but there are a multitude of ethical reasons that I can't ignore. Beyond that, the simple concept of the flesh disgusts me. The knowledge of the disgusting conditions of the processing plant disgust me. The texture is a nightmare, the feeling of sinews and tendons, muscle fiber, fat deposits - the tactile sensation of these is not enjoyable, and the flavour I can take or leave. So why do I continue?
Fish are different though. They have all of the problems of other meat, but with certain types of fish the flavour payoff is too damn high - anyone that has enjoyed Maguro or Toro Nigiri knows what I mean. This guy knows what I mean:
I'm really enjoying enjoying all hell out of the Nick Cave album "Let Love In". It's so very good, words can't express it. I'm less into From Her To Eternity, although eventually I'll have to try it out again. The songwriting is less about topics I find interesting, and certainly the lyrics are not as well done. Scott Walker is good also; I need to get more albums - particularly some more modern albums. Music from the 60's is, well, I just don't care for the production generally.
Alexis: I hope you had fun in Vancouver - I meant to get out, but I was feeling off, ended up passing out for more than 3 hours while I was trying to read. We'll end up meeting up soon, I swear it.
