I am happy to answer your questions.

I want to say first of all that Job Corps isn't for everyone. There are a lot of rules you have to follow and it's a different sort of environment.

As for not living on campus, I think they do it on a case by case basis. Generally you have to be married or have a kid or have some sort of mental problem. But they do let some people live off campus who don't fall into any of those categories, so you will just have to ask.

I don't like all the people here, some are very noisy and like to cause trouble and disrespect staff members. There are some people here who are here to better themselves. They're fewer, but you find them. I'm generally a stick to myself kind of girl. I don't have a lot of close friends here, but I try to get along with everyone. I'm in a special group called High Merit where we do military stuff with exercises everyday and where we get to go on special trips. That helped open me up a bit. But, I do like it here. It's a good program with a lot of good oppurtunities. I'm pretty comfortable here with the environment. I don't regret coming here. I feel that I have matured greatly while being here. And I get along great with staff. Getting along with staff is key to your survival here. If you get along great with staff you get treated better and have better oppurtunities.

The average stay is about seven months, though I've been here for almost 2 years. some people stay for less than that, some stay for more. It depends on whether or not you have your high school diploma/GED, whether or not you are up to par in your reading and math, and which trade you take. BOT (Business Office Technology) is probably the fastest trade, and the construction trades (Masonry, Carpentry, Facilities Maintainence) take longer.

Feel free to ask me anything about Job Corps. And if you want to take a tour, we have tours every Thursday morning at 10 AM. Be here by 9:45.
