The Five Doctors - 25th Anniversary DVD thingie

Mar 01, 2008 17:18

Y'know, the year I am actually older than these 25th anniversary things, I am going to freak out a bit. But that's in The Distance, just now I have a Beautiful DVD of the blasted story that started my rather unfortunate love of Doctor Who. So it's full of shiny, shiny nostalgia. And stuff! Awesome stuff! Even tediously dull extras like Now and Then ( Read more... )

I only just bought The Five Doctors, but that DVD does look mighty tempting. Oh, that last picture makes me explode with glee a hundred times over. HAT ON K9!

It is quite a bit yaysome as the UK only had a vanilla release orginally and this one has both version of The Five Docs and two commentaries and Stuff! I like Stuff.

Maybe the US version has the two as well? I do not know. But it's the original telly version, the one that was first released on video. And the one what they added in some cut scenes and souped up the special effects that was released with Black Orchid on VHS and then was the first UK DVD release.

It is. I am special. (Or, Play sometimes delivers pre-orders a few days early, I don't know why. Possibly it has something to do with them being in Jersey.)

Yeah I figured it was something like that hehe; awesome. :) I think I've only pre-ordered one thing by mail, and it arrived on the actual release date which astounded me lol; now it no longer will. ;p

My brain just went on critical mass overload with so much squee for multiple Doctors. Especially that last picture.

I... I may have died.

PS. "The Five Doctors" sort of just reminded me of it, but I've been terribly amused at work recently. Bossman just bought these super deluxe coffee makers for all three studios and we had ours installed on Wednesday. Our studio has officially named ours Flavia because its the maker's brand name (www.myflavia.com), but of course I giggle for other reasons.

Meep! Well done coffee machine, yes.

They did not include the pic where the other Doctors are using Not!Tom as a battering ram. This saddens me.

Omg another picture of the five together! An even BETTER one! Is that really Tom? So he agreed to do the photoshoots...I'm snagging that picture.

Peter mocking Anthony makes me squeeeeeeeeee on Master/Doctor grounds and I have to get ahold of the DVD if for that alone.

Did it have commentary?

Heeee, Two all going "would you like a jellybaby?" It's upturned my world and I like it. =D

It's not Tom, no. It's his waxwork from Madame Tussuad's.

Two was the first Doctor with jelly babies! Canon! And yes, there are two commentaries, one on the original version and one on the special effects one. And Davison's on one of them and he's awfully good at the commentary thing, yes.

Ah, good.

I already have the plain old extras-free DVD, but I'm going to buy the Special Edition any way. Yay for extra stuff!

I stubbornly refused to shell out for the vanilla release. Because the cover didn't match, and I'd be damned if I was going to go to the effort of getting a fanmade one printed off. Lo, pettiness.
