Then this weekend
nobodobodon,
delia_deville,
m7superstar and I road tripped to the NorthEastern corner of Texas to attend the North TX Regional Burn,
Myschievia. The trip up was exactly what I wanted it to be, lots of good conversation and strange music listening with Nobody.
It was a whirlwind trip. It happened so fast that by the time we had our camp all set up it was almost time to burn the effigy. But first, the lovely wedding of Roadrash and Geo who declared their love for one another and the community and then spanked each other with a hot pink wooden paddle. After that, more spanking as Delia had rounded up 40 people to stand in a line and take Michael's birthday spankings for him (and from him). I was thrilled that this had all happened at once.
Then I realized that folks were about to start stuffing Unruly Man with explosives and I had barely gotten to know him. I grabbed Delia's hand, "I didn't get to climb him yet! Let's go!" From the eyes of Unruly Man I watched Stephen Wilson, Baby-faced Trevor and 2 fire dancers that I do not know spinning with wild abandon. I climbed back down and asked if I could help pack the man w/ explosives. Someone handed me some sort of wooden bomb and started describing how to handle it properly, (not really safely, just safe-r). I handed it right back. I guess I was expecting sparklers, not bombs, and also at that very moment I suddenly realized that the beer, jinnantonix and Southern Comfort had all caught up with me and I was stupidly drunk. Before the man was even lit, I was passed out in the grass. Once in a while someone would come say hello to see if I would respond. One girl placed a light on me. I bounced up for a while and spun a hula hoop while the music was speaking to me, and then laid back down again when the ground spoke to me. Michael found me and brought me water and blankets. Eventually I crawled into Delia's tent and napped until about 5am.
I joined 7 in Oppulence and he and Effie regaled me with tales of what-I-missed-while-I-was-out. Then 7 and I engaged in steamy marital bliss until the sun rose and came up and came up higher and the tent got so hot that we could not stay in it any more.
And I should really just leave this story with the climax, because the rest of the day, while pleasant, was really just tear down and then a loooong exhausting drive back to Austin.
