[Niko's sleep becomes restless after midnight. A light sheen of sweat gilds his olive-dark skin and dampens the strands of hair that fall against his cheek. His hand tightens convulsively around the hilt of the knife he keeps beneath his pillow. Fine tremors of tension ripple through the muscles of his bare arms. Niko doesn't thrash when he's dreaming, but he moves enough that the sheets become tangled and bunched around his lower half. He's sleeping on his stomach, as usual, but doesn't wake from his dreams to see the reminder that Cal taped to his headboard weeks ago, the one that tells him with Cal's typical sharp humor that his little brother is fine no matter what the nightmares say.
The cats slink cautiously away, and in the process Hotspur brushes against the network device, triggering the video feed just long enough to provide viewers with an extreme close-up of tabby fur before Hal's following footsteps depress a button that terminates the transmission.]

Anyone who comments after seeing the five-second cat video will be treated to Niko in overdrive and doing his best to contain his temper in the morning/during the day.
