Okay, so I fell off the face of LJ there for a bit.
We had one thing after another happening, and I had so many things I wanted to post about, that I couldn't bring myself to play catch-up with it all. Nothing monumental, just everyday stuff and mundane observations. The essence of this journal, really.
I STILL haven't gone through the photos from the trip to the US. I will conclude the Pittsburgh story then, though, as I know I must have several photos from the fabulous Nationality Rooms macshel and I visited while I was there. I've also gotten quite a lot of use out of the silver and amber pendants I purchased in the museum shop (can NOT recommend that highly enough, either. I'd love to just do all of my Christmas shopping there!)
Cookieman is heartened by the sinking dollar, and so we're planning yet another trip to the US. It will likely be in just a few weeks, as the airfares go up significantly after that, and we'd then be putting off the trip until the autumn.
We went to Holland and Germany over Easter. We flew to Amsterdam, met up with his family there, and stayed with them at a beach house they had rented. It was lovely, though of course a bit brisk. This is one of my favorite kinds of beach, as requires more rather than less clothing. After our stay there, we packed into the car with his parents and one of his brothers for the drive back to Germany. I'd like to put that cramped experience right out of my head forever. Easter was nice, though, and the overall trip was enjoyable.
On news that doesn't relate to me at all but I'm still excited about: Weingarten won a Pulitzer! I've always really enjoyed his feature pieces, and I'm pleased that he was recognized for the Joshua Bell piece he did for the Washington Post last year. Yes, I know the idea wasn't entirely original (many people have brought up the fact that other famous musicians have done this on various occasions) but you've got to admit his writing about it was spot-on. I have yet to finish a piece of his without wishing I could write half as well.

Alright, the bathroom light has stopped working, so I've got a call to put in to the landlord. I'll catch up on some commentin' here, and hopefully get some pics up soon.
