In my online hunt for boots that fit properly, I came across a site which had a few styles I was interested in. In order to get a quote for the full cost of the boot (or indeed, do anything on the site), I was prompted to register. alright, fair enough, many websites require this. I put in my email address, and my home address, as requested.
I was then asked how long I'd lived at this address, and what my previous address was. By this point, things were sounding suspiciously like a credit application, so I did not intend to go any further. I did see by the form provided, though, that I wouldn't have been able to fill this form out anyway due to my previous address being, shock/horror, NOT a UK address.
So, still mildly interested in said boots, I decided to send off a quick inquiry email regarding the issue. I stated succinctly that I was unable to obtain the required account number in order to proceed with any purchases, due to the web form not accepting that I'd lived overseas. And, was there not a way to make a purchase without putting it on whatever system of credit they were trying to offer?
The response from them today begins, verbatim, with: "So we may locate your account details and assist with your enquiry efficiently, please can you provide your customer account number."
Which, to me, translates into: "Please purchase your boots elsewhere! We suck!"
I appreciate their help on this matter.
