Marshmallow flower cupcakes

May 31, 2010 19:47

Last Friday me and my friends had our last ever co-op (at least as undergrads, not doubt those of us doing post grad will still go there, and the rest of us will just pretend we're still students), so I decided to make something special as a sort of inspiration for our upcoming exam period, something to remind us of the light ahead. However, it's not baked, so instead I will post the accompaniment I baked. The former wasn't very filling, so I baked something a little more substantial:

The cupcakes are just regular buttercakes. I couldn't decide what flavour to do, so I asked my boyfriend and regretted it when he just wanted butter. But everyone loved it.

With vanilla buttercream icing.

The flower petals are made from marshmallows dipped in coloured sugar.

And just in case you want to know what that 'special something' was anyway, I made graduation hats using my caramel cups recipe for the base, made chocolate squares and used sour straps and a mini M&M for the rest.
