So something strange happened to me at work today. I'm ringing up this lady and I notice she's wearing a necklace with some Hebrew writing on it, and I ask her what it says. She flips it over and it says, "Jesus the Messiah". I was like, "That's neat," and we went our merry ways. I want to say it was over half an hour later when I was restocking some seeds that she comes up to me.
"Miss Caitlin," she says, "does this mean anything to you?" holding out the necklace in her hand.
I shook my head. "Not really, no," I answered, kindly as possible and feeling myself blush for no apparent reason.
"How did you know it was Hebrew?"
"I recognized the letters."
"Oh, you recognized the letters," she muttered back, thinking. "I want to give this to you."
I'm all startled, and still blushing, kinda embarrassed. "Really?"
"Yes, I'm here from Texas and I think you should have it."
So I took it. "Thank you."
"So study Hebrew," she continues, "and try to find out what the Lord is telling you."
Awkward. Regardless, "Thank you," I repeat dumbly, watching as she turns and hurries out the door.
So I felt a little evangelized and weird, but now I'm thinking someday when I've learned Hebrew (which has already been on my list of languages to learn) I'll have some sort of Holy Epiphany Thing and I'll remember this lady from Texas with the necklace. It's actually quite a lovely piece of jewelry; I put it on right there and it's still on. Looks nice with this top, as a matter of fact. But anyway, that was just strange. I had a strange day. Maybe I'll end up in the clergy after all. It has occurred to me.
In other news, Hannah put the deposit down on the 23rd street property last week. Ack, I'm so excited. Ever since I've been thinking of the things I can do with that back porch. It's terrible; I bought gas with quarters the other day and won't even be able to pay my half of the deposit until I get paid tomorrow (I'm such a money dork) yet still I ponder ways to spend my money. Ugh. I uploaded the pictures she took of the place to my scrapbook, you should
go look at them.
Lately I've been listening to BCC Radio dramatizations of Sherlock Holmes' adventures. They are super fabulous. I love how Watson gets married, and then he's like, "I miss Hol- er, Baker Street," and stops by only to get caught up in another mystery (not that he particularly minds). It's so funny. I love them. I've also begun to download a few old episodes of Pinky and the Brain, because I was being all nostalgic about them and I wanted to watch a few episodes. That was good television.
