So this is a busy weekend! Well I think it's actually a busy Saturday and a nothing Sunday, but whatever it's busy! The girls are testing for 2BR on Saturday, which is 2nd degree black belt recommended. If they pass, then in 6 months they can test again for their 2nd degree. They have been practicing for the run for a couple of weeks, but because of demo team and the tournament they weren't able to go to the prep class which made me nervous. They haven't done the rest of the fitness part, push ups and sit ups, kicks, punches, and combos, to see if they can get 500. They should be fine in theory, but it always makes me nervous since they didn't prepare! Aly hasn't been studying for the written test. Britt has most of it down, Aly struggles when they quiz her in the car, so who knows how that will go. Maybe tonight I'll make them go over it and over it and over it. Last weekend we were quizzing them in the car on the ride home from the tournament and Hubby kept giving the answers if he knew them! I kept telling him to shut up because HE is not testing, lol. I'm not worried about their form. If Aly focuses then she'll do fine. But they have to do 3 board breaks and if they don't break their board then it's an automatic fail. They have both been struggling with it in class, which is just ARGH! They were practicing on a heavier board which is harder, but when they started having trouble it started psyching them out. Last night they finally practiced with the actual one they have to break and Aly still had trouble. Hubby thinks they will do fine, but I'm still nervous. Our friends 2 daughters and niece are testing for their 1st degree, and they are all having trouble with their board breaks as well. Hopefully this isn't the year that they all crumble! Aly also has not picked up her letter of recommendation yet. She has to have one from a teacher, and today is Friday so if she doesn't get it TODAY then she can't test tomorrow. The next test isn't for 6 months, so she kind of really needs to get her butt in gear and GET it! She asked her teacher last week but never followed up on it, and the teacher was out sick the past 2 days. Yesterday I finally had her ask another teacher to write one (she picked her physics teacher and she has 4 missing assignments in that class! Not a good person to recommend you for being responsible, lol). I've reminded her 9000 times to get it today, but if she forgets then oh well.
I've got to check the schedule and get directions. It's been 6 months since I went to the school they are testing at and I don't really remember how to get there. The girls have to be there at 7:30am or something, we drop them off and they do the written, run, fitness stuff without us. They'll stop for lunch around 11 or 11:30 then we'll come back and watch the rest. Hopefully we'll be done by 3, I can't really remember how long it took last time but I think it was closer to 4:30. Larkyn has a birthday party to go to at a friend's house. My mom is going to watch her and Parker and drop Larkyn off at the party then do something fun with Parker. I feel a little weird not dropping her at the party, but being at testing is more important than socializing with the birthday mom.
Aly just texted me. Her physics teacher gave her the letter, one less thing to worry about! Now we just have to hope she brings it home, lol. Hubby is finishing our parent recommendation letters today and then we are good to go. Britt got injured in class the other night, but she's fine now. Hopefully it doesn't flare up on the run or anything. She was sparring Hubby's nemesis (the girls spar the adults since they are so tall) and they both went to kick at the same time and he did an axe kick right on the side of her leg. It dropped her to the floor, she said she was OK then burst in to tears. He felt horrible but it was an accident, just bad timing. She was able to do her board break after that but it hurt really bad because it used that leg. She seemed fine yesterday so we're hoping she still rocks it out, but we'll see! I keep telling them there is no getting injured before tournaments or testing, but they keep not listening!
I'm a little worried about my back. It started doing that weird thing the other day, just like it did before it seized up and I couldn't walk. It's not as bad as it got, but it is starting to have the symptoms it did before it got bad. I need to start doing my stretches again, but I keep forgetting. I also need to lose weight because I KNOW that would help, but it didn't stop me from having cookies for breakfast. I just can't get motivated. I think I'm the only one in my extended family that is not dieting right now, but all that does is annoy me instead of motivating because ALL they can talk about it how many weight watchers points this or what they ate for dinner the day before. Surely it's possible to eat healthy and not have it monopolize every conversation you have! Hopefully the back thing was just a random weirdness and it's not going to get bad again.
