They come home to a planet that has the ability to grow plants. But it’s still a mess. It’s still more garbage than civilization and more civilization than nature. Yet they return because the notion of home and farming and dancing has filled them with a conviction that it’s never too late.

Why am I such a pessimist?

Johnny brought over his DVD of the animated Transformers. Two things that I did not know:

1. It contains possibly the last performance by the living Orson Welles (as Unicron, the giant planet that eats other planets!)

2. It contains a sequence that was later sampled by the underground hip hop duo Cannibal Ox

I fear the wounds are fatal...

Ninety percent of the 300 person capacity theatre was composed of civil servants over 40. It reminded me of how naive I am. I think of experimental animators like McLaren as fairly edgy, hip and, well, awesome.
