MEME: Fandom Character Questions

Jan 17, 2010 23:19

Oh this was a fun one!

Snagged from eilonwy

Choose twelve characters from your fandoms in random order, then answer the following questions. Do not look at the questions beforehand (or assign to numbers randomly)

*digs out a d12*

1. Miles Vorkosigan (Vorkosigan Saga - books)
2. Bobby Singer (SPN)
3. Penelope Garcia (Criminal Minds)
4. John Casey (Chuck)
5. Chuck Bartowski (Chuck)
6. Dean Winchester (SPN)
7. Castiel (SPN)
8. Tenth Doctor (Doctor Who)
9. Chuck the Prophet (SPN)
10. Martha Jones (Doctor Who)
11. Derek Morgan (Criminal Minds)
12. Sarah Walker (Chuck)

(Before anyone asks, no, none of these will ever be developed into fic. If you want to adopt any as a plot-bunny, go right ahead.)

1. Who would make a better college professor, 6 (Dean) or 11 (Derek Morgan)?

Ha! Derek Morgan. He'd make an awesome college professor! Very focused, clear-spoken, listen actively to student questions and a patient explainer. Warm and approachable.

Dean would be a... hm, an irritable professor, seeming quite scattered, with no patience for willful idiots, and very 'lab-oriented.' Most of his classes would be site visits and field trips, and god help anyone that wouldn't try to keep up, mentally or physically. Or he would have a class all about the cultural significance of classic rock and be the most intense and intricate thing going, a class that students would think was an easy course, but as the year went on, the slackers would all drop away and there would be a core of really intense and dedicated students and Dean.

2. Do you think 4 (John Casey) is hot? How hot?

I don't really do 'hot'. I guess he's attractive. *shrug*

3. 12 (Sarah Walker) sends 8 (The Doctor) on a mission. What is it, and does it succeed?

So, Sarah's been seconded by UNIT? Hee! Regardless, Sarah might think she's sending the Doctor on a mission, and he'd let her think she is and she'd know he was letting her think she was, but they'd both know he'd do it anyway (as long as it wasn't wrong, although I can't see Sarah sending anyone else out to assassinate someone or suchlike), and of course it succeeds! As long as it's not wrong. Because if its wrong, it'll succeed in the other direction. That's the danger of trying to get the Doctor to do something. Sometimes he'll find out it's the exact opposite of what needs to be done, so he'll do that instead. (It's not "mission creep" with the Doctor so much as "mission fission")

Either way it'll be a huge success, just maybe not for Sarah and whatever higher-up has issued the mission in the first place. Regardless of whose idea of what the mission is succeeds, I don't think Sarah would mind at all if the Doctor instituted an on-the-ground change of directive to do the right thing.

4. What is or would be 9's (Chuck the prophet) favorite book?

Let's see. He's referenced Stephen King and Kurt Vonnegut.... Hm. I'm kind of leaning towards "Dark Half" by Stephen King. Maybe. I don't know either author well enough to venture a guess, but Dark Half has that 'being taken over by the writing' kind of theme, which I think Chuck would identify with.

5. Would it make more sense for 2 (Bobby) to swear fealty to 6 (Dean), or the other way around?

Ohhhh. I love my random dice roll. I think really it's a kind of mutual fealty. Although Bobby's got an exception clause of 'unless you're being an idjit' :-)

6. For some reason, 5 (Chuck Bartowski) is looking for a roommate. Should he share a studio apartment with 9 (Chuck the Prophet) or with 10 (Martha Jones)?

Oh wow. Chuck and Chuck, sharing a studio apartment. Bathrobes, booze, computers, cheese puffs, and heads stuffed full of information downloads they can't control from very different sources. Chuck playing video games with headphones on on the couch while Chuck hammers away wild-eyed at the keyboard in the kitchenette. Totally. Martha and Chuck would not cohabitate nearly as well.

7. 2 (Bobby), 7 (Castiel) and 12 (Sarah Walker) have dinner together. Where do they go, and what do they discuss?

I'm thinking Bobby's kitchen, Bobby frying something up, Sarah looking around a bit nervously as Castiel stands in the background doing that 'looming vulture' kind of thing. Maybe the morning after an exceptionally weird night for Sarah, and she's kind of boggled by the 'monsters are real and we're having an Apocalypse' stuff.

The conversation would be pretty much Sarah asking lots of questions and getting briefed on the state of the world, Hell and Heaven. Bobby'd be treating her like he's not sure if she'll go off the deep end or cope, Castiel would be Castiel and very matter of fact, and Sarah would be coping better than she lets on because she's still half-convinced it's all some kind of elaborate scam or drug-induced hallucination and waiting for the hook, but kind of starting to believe it.

8. 4 (John Casey) challenges 10 (Martha Jones) to a duel. What happens?

Well, the first thing that happens is Martha laughs incredulously. Then when she realizes he's serious, she calls him a madman and walks away. Casey grunts in frustration but doesn't chase her down, and plots.

9. If 1 (Miles Vorkosigan) stole 8's (The Doctor) most precious possession, how would s/he get it back?

Oh crap. Miles Vorkosigan stole the TARDIS. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA. God. Worst possible thing to happen to the universe.

Okay. Doctor getting it back... depends if Miles can get it to take him somewhere, what he does when he's there, and how he got in it in the first place. And if he has any of the Dendarii Mercenaries with him. The TARDIS will probably not let them get very far, and if they do get her to move, she'll over-ride and home in on the Doctor herself, and then he'd have to get them all out, but that wouldn't be a problem. (Although they had a good tech bunch in the Mercenaries didn't they....)

They could just load the TARDIS on one of the ships and take off with it through the jump gate nexus (although taking the TARDIS through a jump gate feels about as advisable as sticking a bag of holding inside a portable hole) So.... the Doctor would have to convince some other ship to give chase, explain the situation whatever it is, and Heh. A Miles VS Tenth Doctor conversation would be a sight to behold. But he'd get it back in the end.

I really need to re-read the Vorkosigan books again.

10. Suggest a title for a story in which 7 (Castiel) and 12 (Sarah Walker) both attain what they most desire.

This Meme seems bound and determined for Sarah and Castiel to work together. Hm. How about "Prophecy is an Intersect from God." Drag both Chucks' into the mix (since one is Sarah's objective, cross up the information sources for Chuck and Chuck somehow using Dean's pendant in order to locate God who immediately declares Castiel right, re-imprisons Lucifer, cleans house in Heaven, etc. (Castiel's objective) In the process of finding God, the Intersect burns out, Chuck becomes a mundane, Sarah quits the CIA and they go off to some picturesque part of the world with no extradition treaties to have loads of adorable curly-haired moppets. And a dog.

11. What kind of plot device would you use if you wanted 3 (Penelope Garcia) and 1 (Miles Vorkosigan) to work together?

Probably while Miles has the stolen TARDIS, he goes to visit old Earth or something. Time travel would have to be involved. Maybe an errant wormhole or something, followed by needing to find an expert in hacking computers to find... heh. Probably to find where the Men in Black or whoever took Bel and Taura for examination as alien invaders.

12. If 7 (Castiel) visited you for the weekend, how would you get along?

Oh dear. He'd be very discouraged by the state of my apartment. I'd be rather concerned about why he might want to visit me, and really tempted to introduce him to the more religious parts of my family, just for laughs. Aside from that we'd probably have some headache-inducing discussions and this weekend in particular I'd've been hard-pressed not to suggest a round of casual smiting.

13. If you could command 3 (Penelope Garcia) to perform any one task or service for you, what would it be?

Hack my credit card, mortgage and student loan and pay it off through some means that would pass a thorough audit. Either that or sic her on Boss2's network setup because it needs serious help.

14. Does anyone on your friends list write or draw 11 (Derek Morgan)?

Not that I know of.

15. If 2 (Bobby) had to choose sides between 4 (John Casey) and 5 (Chuck Bartowski), which would it be?

They're both idjits. Casey would argue his point with a threatening tone, though, which would not wash at all with Bobby. Chuck would wheedle and plead and Bobby might be more inclined to back him up. Although the military background argues for Casey too. I think Bobby'd side with Chuck, as long as he was making some kind of sense.

16. What might 10 (Martha Jones) shout while charging into battle?

...Expelliarmus? I don't- Oh! Wait! The year that never was. Spreading stories of the Doctor. So... "Doctor"?

17. If you chose a song to represent 8 (The Doctor), which song would you choose?

Oh, craaaap. I guess... "Handlebars" by the Flobots, because of this fanvid by flummery.

18. 1 (Miles Vorkosigan), 6 (Dean), and 12 (Sarah Walker) are having dim sum at a Chinese restaurant. There is only one scallion pancake left, and they all reach for it at the same time. Who gets to eat it?

Well, Miles is probably mostly stuffed anyway because his metabolism is so teeny, so he'll pass. Sarah would probably back off too, because she's polite like that, I think. Dean, who has apparently gotten past the giant WTF of the concept of a scallion pancake (which I'm still experiencing) probably didn't even notice the other two reaching and noms it down.

19. What might be a good pick-up line for 2 (Bobby) to use on 10 (Martha Jones)?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. Geez. No idea. Something very polite and gentlemanly and respectful and kind of bashful, I'd suspect.

20. What would 5 (Chuck Bartowski) most likely be arrested for?

Let's see. Off the top of my head from the first few episodes of season One: Disturbing the peace, unlawful possession of fireworks, property damage, theft, operating a helicopter without a license or training...

21. What is 6's (Dean) secret?

Heh. From who? Boy's made of secrets.

22. If 11 (Derek Morgan) and 9 (Chuck the Prophet) were racing to a destination, who would get there first?

Derek Morgan. The Prophet Chuck's not really the 'race into action' type.

23. Between 7 (Castiel) and 3 (Penelope Garcia) , who would most likely become your friend?

Garcia, maybe. Castiel's a bit new to the concept of friend. Although me and Garcia would probably be prickly kind of friends.

24. 1 (Miles Vorkosigan) and 9 (Chuck the Prophet) reluctantly team up to save the world from the threat posed by 4's (John Casey) sinister secret organization. 11 (Derek Morgan) volunteers to help them, but it is later discovered that 11 (Derek Morgan) is actually a spy for 4 (John Casey). Meanwhile, 4 (John Casey) has kidnapped 12 (Sarah Walker) in an attempt to force their surrender. Following the wise advice of 5 (Chuck Bartowski), they seek out 3 (Penelope Garcia), who gives them what they need to complete their quest. What title would you give this fic? Name three people on your friends list who might read it. Name one person who should write it.

...Sorry, got side-tracked by the idea of Garcia trying to brain-hack Chuck's Intersect. o.O Back to the question.

Derek being a spy for Casey kind of works because Casey's got the background authority of being a marine and in the NSA, and Miles (depending on the era) is either a far-future off-world aristocrat, a mercenary fleet captain, or a complex representative of another planet's legal system, and Earth isn't really his jurisdiction. (Eek. Morgan profiling Miles and Chuck) Chuck is a bathrobe-wearing pulp horror novel writer as far as Morgan is concerned. Whatever line of merchandise Casey is selling has more weight.

Casey's sinister secret organization might even be the NSA, or some kind of subversion of their structure (by demons taking over key personnel! Or maybe Casey's possessed (oh crap!) Hence the need for a mercenary fleet admiral to team up with a historical earth-based prophet, or something) and might think he's doing the right thing too.

Casey kidnapping Sarah. Heeeee! Like that's going to work. She's probably playing 'kidnapped' to find out what the hell is going on with Casey. Sarah is a random woman to Miles and Chuck, but I don't think either of them would let a threat to any person stand uncontested. Going to Chuck B. makes sense because Sarah probably told them too in the 'help I'm kidnapped' speech or whatever (Hee. S:"Find Chuck"/M:"...But he's right here."/C:"Hellooo"/S:*facepalm*.) Chuck B. would panic and flash through the intersect somehow to find Garcia, hacker extraordinaire... Who... Hm. I dunno. OOOOO!!!! Talks sense into Morgan! He realizes that he's involved in something sinister that will destroy the world, switches sides, they contain and exorcise Casey and all join forces with Sam and Dean and Bobby and Castiel to go exorcise the entire NSA chain of command. And then the Doctor and Martha take everyone home again.

Problem solved! Epic win for Team Everybody! \o/

Who should write it? No idea. Not me. Probably best done by a group, over a weekend involving a large amount of alcohol.

25. If you had to walk home through a bad neighbourhood late at night, would you feel safer in the company of 7 (Castiel) or 8 (The Doctor)?

Well, let's see. With the Doctor, we'd get talking about something, (or he'd get talking about something and I'd be listening as fast as I could) and then something would jump out at us because we were distracted and then there'd probably be running, because anything jumping out at the Doctor isn't likely to be a bog-standard human mugger-type. With Castiel, there'd be a distracting conversation that probably wouldn't even pause as someone jumped out, Castiel did the finger-poke thing and knocked them out, and we continued on.

Really though, I'd rather walk with both, because they'd get all distracted having a huge fascinating discussion I could listen in on, while I watched out for random trouble that might want to interrupt them, packing my ridiculous and very dull sword. I think any miscreants would be too bemused by the resulting procession to try anything. It'd be worth it to hear the conversation.
