An old poem.

The lies spill from their mouths
Covering her thick like tar
Straight-faced deceivers, lie for hours
Promised her the world, only to break her heart
They talk their way into her arms
And sweep her off her feet
Disease her with their charms
Poison her with their careless deceit
Passions lit, rages burn…
Till there’s nothing left to feel
Less meaning with each passing word
Wounds inflicted that will never heal
Stuck in an endless cycle of heartache
Pasts refusing to stay where they belong
Constantly pushed until she breaks…
And broken again, just when the pain is gone
