April 1 was a grand success.

This year, I worked w/ a partner.

Mad props to that partner, Charlie, my coworker, and devious kid.

First, Brandon.  Brandon is the RA in the room right below mine.  That's right, he's in Nndy's old room, which predisposes him to getting messed with.  You all remember Nndy's birthday.  We went by the office, and saw that Brandon hadn't done any rounds / filled out a rounds log yet.  So we a) tied him into his room.  b) called and said "Hey, we just saw Calvin, and he was mad that you hadn't done your rounds, and he's coming up to see you.  You should come out of your room and meet him."  So he tried.  And finally, he broke free.  There we were, laughing.  We talked briefly, shook hands, he laughed.  "You said you were gonna get me.  Good job."  Then he went to do his rounds / fill out a log sheet.  He had company.  While he was gone, I convinced her to refer to herself entirely in the third person for the rest of the night.  He came back, saw us still there, and, unwilling to believe that we hadn't done anything, went into his room through his suitemate's.  We tied him into his room again.  Just then another guest showed up to his room.  We got her to knock, while we hid.  Again, he got stuck.  Again, he finally broke free.  He didn't see us.  We stepped back out, and he laughed some more.  After that, the idea of doing more to him just got old, so we didn't.

Instead, we messed with the 1st floor RA on Charlie's side.  His name is Ben.
We were just gonna stand outside his door holding a sheet of paper w/ a corner on fire, and call and tell him that there was a fire outside his door.  But when we called, someone else answered, and said he was at the store.  I hung up.  At this point, I was hit by inspiration, who's a sneaky mug and should be watched.  We came back here, logged into the system for doing write-ups, and i copied a blank one out into MS Word.  Then we filled it out, saying that we'd found unescorted non-residents in his room, and alcohol, and drugs, and that UPD had been called (his dad's the UPD chief), and were recommending that he lose his job.  All very official looking.  Calling his room again, we got no answer, so we taped it to his door, w/ a note to call us about it.

Then we went and picked up Charlie's laundry.  By the time we got back from that, the incident report was gone.  Standing there for just a moment, Ben appeared, panting, leaning over a rail above us.  "What's this about, Charlie?" he asked.  "I dunno, we were kinda hopin' to ask you the same thing."  "What?!?"  Aaaand down he came.  We explained that we figured he was probably a little sauced, but we wanted to give him a chance to explain himself before we submitted it.  (Or maybe he could make it worth our while to not submit it.)  He was totally at a loss.  Finally, we just looked at him and said "April Fool's."  He was so relieved, so happy... and then he started to laugh.  He explained about bursting into his room and hollering at his guests "What'd you DO?"  He'd been running all over the building trying to find us.  Sweaty, out of breath.  He'd been freaking out, thinking his dad would hear about it all.  "This looks so... official!  I was really worried! ... but I can't even be mad, that was really good."  He was proud of us.  Shook our hands.  Went into his room saying that it had made his day.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is really how it should be done anyway.

I had fun.
