And a hope for a future.

Tonight, I shall have my pie, and eat it too.  Darn right I shall.  I will.

Tonight, I learned something amazing.  So tonight, I'll share that amazing thing with you all.

I wrote "Good Night", a piece for a cappella divisi choir, a few weeks ago, finishing just in time to take it with me to the ACDA National Convention.  **Before I go any farther, no, I haven't heard from the publisher, I'm not about to have it published and get rich on royalties.**  However, I wrote it for a friend, and sent it to her to show her director.  My friend loved it.  My friend's friends called it "amazing" (and these are choir people).  Her director said it looked good.  This means... the Chamber Singers at Westminster College (PA) will be singing "Good Night" as part of their larger concert for the Fall 2007 semester.

My music is getting performed elsewhere.  Based on merit, and a director willing to try new things.

WHOOOO!

To me, this is monumental.  It means I really *can* do this.  It means I really *can* make it.  It means I have a chance to actually do what I want to do with my life.  It means there are people not immediately related to me (or in great proximity to me) who like my stuff and want to perform it.  It means I can succeed.

And a hope for a future.

fall 2007, performance, future, good night
