Hey, everyone!
Many things, not in order of importance, per se.
1) I still need a driver to the Jackson Airport on Thursday, 5 April, right after Concert Choir. And a driver to retrieve me on Sunday, 15 April, at 1845, from the same place. **EDIT 2134: I have a ride TO the airport, from is still up in the air!**
My dad's dad, Pop, is sick. He's in the hospital, and has been since Friday night. The doctors still don't know what's wrong. Pop's wife just called my folks this evening to tell them, they were pretty upset to hear that he'd been there so long w/o her telling them. But just to clarify a bit: Pop is an old dude. Old. He's also a tough dude. A few years ago they predicted a fairly small number of months left, and he's just kept on goin'. Pop is the grandparent that I really, truly, deeply care about. I have a storehouse of memories of him and with him. Some good, some bad, but all treasured. If he dies, I'm gonna be a wreck for a while. Those of you who're of the praying persuasion, please, pray for Pop. Pray that the medical staff receive wisdom in how to treat him, and that his wishes be respected. (There was talk of a pacemaker... and at this point in his life, that just seems not helpful. I think he'd probably rather just be allowed to die in peace.) If you're not of the praying persuasion, please send good thoughts his way, as well as toward our family.
Aaaand there's the most fun thing of all:
I was supposed to be advised at 10000h. Dr. Mobley wasn't there. I went down, picked up my folder (the better to speed the process up when he arrived), and went back to his office. A note had appeared on his door saying he'd be in at 1100h today. So I waited an hour, and went back. By 1110h I was gonna leave, but just then he walked up. "Oh, I'm sorry, was I supposed to advise you today at 1000h?" "Yes, sir." "We can do it now, if you have time." So I went into his office, confident that I was prepared, and that I'd be on my way by 1130, and going for lunch.
Then it all fell apart.
We looked at what I needed to take next year to graduate. And it seemed like I had no chance. Like I would HAVE to stay an extra semester. Or else go full-time over the summer, which I can't well do from VA, while working. (The money I make over the summer is what I live on the other 8.5 months of the year.) But we started working, and tweaking, and we figured out that the economics class I took at NOVA (the community college at home) my senior year of HS did indeed count for a social science. And if I don't take spanish next year (and don't complete my minor, therefore... 3 hours short. *cry* ) then I can just make it, if I take 20 hours each semester. Next semester, that 20 includes the RA class I have to take to keep my job. So it's really 17, plus 3 hours of BS for an A. That's fine. But I'm gonna graduate with 160 hours. Oh, and I'm trying to work out some sort of independant study in spanish over the summer, so that I can get my minor. Oh, and I was mis-advised when I got here, I have both American History and American Lit. So I've got a substitution request form, an overload request form, and 40 hours my senior year. And then I get to get the heck outta Monroe, get married, and move to Portland. Whee.
So yeah. What a day.
