I just fixed the bcs mess
First eliminate the 12th game and all conference championship games since all conferences do not have one anyways.
Then at the end of reglular season play, take top 8 teams according to the BCS poll.
Those top 8 teams would then have a playoff.
Money is still plentiful to be had as a team could play in as many as 3 high profile games. Powerful conferences could still send two teams to the top 8 if that applies. So for instance there is no lack of Arkansas and Florida in the top 8 or LSU and Florida. Also you point out the fact that every year, some conferences don't deserve to be in a big bowl games just because they are a "BCS conference". An ACC team doesn't deserve a bcs bowl game bid this year I'm sorry to say.
After the playoffs are over you would have a definate top 8 and the top 4 teams have only played an extra 1 game and the top 8 teams in the country should all be conditioned enough to handle this anyways especially with the new clock rules.
Any questions?
Here's what the playoffs might look like if they were to start in two weeks.
Round 1:
1)Ohio State vs. 8)Wisconsin = OSU
2)Michigan vs. 7)West Virginia = shoot out but Michigan
3)USC vs. 6)Arkansas = rematch but better and Arkansas victory
4)Florida vs. 5)Notre Dame = great coaching duel. Florida in a good one
Round 2:
1)OSU versus 4)Florida = great game but with my bias Florida
2)Michigan versus 6)Arkansas = great game as well but I have a gut that Arkansas wins a low score game
8)Wisconsin vs. 5)ND = Notre Dame wins a ground game
3)USC vs. 7)West Virginia = no defense equals West Virginia in an upset
Round 3:
1)OSU vs. 5)ND = OSU all the way
2)Michigan vs. 7)West Virginia = great game Michigan in a thriller
Final Round:
4)UF vs. 6)ARK = again bias but UF all the way
1)OSU vs. 2)Michigan = OSU all the way in the rematch people wanted to see
Final poll would be this:
1)UF
2)Arkansas
3)OSU
4)Michigan
5)West Virginia
6)Notre Dame
7)USC
8)Wisconsin
