Writing the Essay
On formulating a thesis for my Crusades essay on fully tracing the origins of the crusading movement and accounting for the lay response to Urban II's speech at Clermont in 1095:
Caedmon84: ergotism..
ematerese: is that the whole poisoned bread thing
Caedmon84: yeah!
Caedmon84: i think i'm just going to base my entire essay on that..just for kicks
Caedmon84: it was all because of moldy bread..the pope had it, the people had it...
ematerese: haha
ematerese: you could formulate a crazy hypothesis
Caedmon84: i should do it
ematerese: that the pope actually knew what it was
ematerese: and he was giving it to people
ematerese: in communion

Caedmon84: and then in the end, i could dramatically say something like
Caedmon84: and i ate the bread too!
