New Gillington fanart - watercolour painting!

Apr 29, 2007 18:51

I love painting with watercolours, and I definitely like drawing Gillington. So it was only a matter of time until this happened: Norrington/Gillette fanart in full watercoloury glory!
Not my first watercolour painting, and not my first Gillington either ~ but the combination of both blew even me away. This is one of the few paintings that I don't get tired of looking at (yet), and that's saying quite a bit. ;)

Full picture and two detail shots behind the cut. Smaller (dial-up friendly) versions in this LJ, bigger versions uploaded and linked to.

I think the picture itself is pretty much self-explanatory, no story or specific scene behind it. But there's a bit of a story about how it came to be drawn, which I'd like to share with you...
In yesterday's post I mentioned meeting with joyful_molly around Easter for a "work meeting". It was a very successful meeting, and we got a lot of work done ~ and of course, we had help. ;) We watched Jack Davenport in "Coupling" and "Fierce Creatures", and an episode of the UK series "Casualty" starring Damian O'Hare.
To get our grubby little hands on that "Casualty" episode, we had the help of lovely dauntless_2005, who recorded it and sent the CD to joyful_molly. It arrived in time, and we could squee - and in my case, laugh about the medical nonsense they do - while watching it. Originally we had planned to send a card and some chocolate to dauntless_2005 to thank her ~ but somehow I didn't have enough time left to draw a card before going back home. So instead I told her she could whisper to my muses about what she'd like to see... and what did she tell them?

Norrington and Gillette + fencing + 18th century dress/furniture + the naughty sofa scene from "Liaisons dangereuses"

Needless to say, that combination is to my brain what caffeine is to Hammy. We have the same fetishes obsessions interests, it seems. Either way, I think I will have to offer her a job as muse honoraire because of the things she did to my brain.
So, all thanks to dauntless_2005 for the inspiration, both from the "Casualty" cd and the hints to my muses, and for allowing, nay, forcing me to share this painting here:
