IN MY GARDEN . . .

Jul 14, 2020 22:19

I have lived in my house since 1989 and this summer has been the first time I have seen a species of day-flying moth Callimorpha dominula (in English known as Scarlet Tiger moth). Friends living locally and in a village 20km away have also seen this species of moth.

Wing-span about 45mm

The last time I saw this species of moth was in 2005 when I was working awau from home in Oxford; they could be seen flying in the garden of my lodgings most days for a week or two during June.
