I'm reading China Homecoming by Jean Fritz!!! I'm so happy I finally got my copy from my T. Jaime today. I've wanted that book and it's only been published once 23 or so years ago. Thank goodness for T. Jaime and internet shopping!!
Reading it is making me nostalgic in a way. I get emotional like Jean on her return trip to China 55 years after leaving. I read Homesick (the "first book" about her childhood in China) around maybe 9 or 10 years ago. I even remember in the 5th grade we read a bit of the book in class and I lent my best friend Colleen my complete copy. She read it and drew a copy of book's cover of a Chinese junk. When she migrated to the States she mailed me the drawing. I have it stored in a box in my closet.
Like E.L. Konigsburg's stories where characters travel through different books and you meet them again, I love reading about Jean going back to all the places she talks about in Homesick.
