Statements that mean 'forever'.
Asking a very, very long-time friend about some MP3s I shared with him, he replied:
"Your singing triggers strange reactions in me. I have to concentrate or I don't hear the lyrics. Your voice (when singing) just fades into the background. It's not that I don't enjoy it. It's more that, after this many years, it's the equivalent of the cooling fan on the computer or the hum of the engine in the car: it's a background sound that tells me that all is well with the world."
There may be more straight-forward ways of saying 'I have known you way too long', but frankly, this? This is the sweetest way I'm ever likely to hear it said.
