For those who have wondered...

So in late October, after long talks with spiritdance and zencuppa, I decided that it was time for a change, and I joined Weight Watchers the first week in November. I've stayed on-plan ever since, which has been hard at times, both because of overeating ("What do you mean I can't eat a whole carton of Ben and Jerry's in one sitting?") and because of undereating ("What do you mean I can't go a whole weekend only eating tomatoes?"). I've learned a lot about healthy eating, and even more about how badly I'd been neglecting it.

I've also learned a lot about exercise, and balance. I'm walking several miles a day now, as a matter of course, and doing my aerobics tapes again. Jolly good fun, if you're insane, which I apparently am. Weekend hikes are starting to look appealing for the first time in years, and the more I move, the more I feel like I can move, which chains up quite nicely.

As of last night's meeting, I have lost fifty-one pounds.

When I look at myself, I can't really tell that anything has changed, because the weight has been lost slowly and at a healthy pace. When I look at pictures taken this past October, I'm astonished by the difference. I suppose it's all a matter of perspective. I feel so much healthier now; it's worth the work, just for that.

And now you know.
