Um.

My square-dancing skirt -- denim top, brightly-coloured Southwestern-patterned bottom which frills and twirls most delightfully -- last fit me sometime around the year 2000, when I was helping on the bid for the Phoenix Westercon. I know that it fit me then, because I have pictures of myself wearing it (and sitting in Patrick's lap). I also know that it was reasonably tight at the time.

At the end of September, I bagged up a lot of clothing to get rid of, including that skirt, which I (quite reasonably) thought I would never be able to wear again. On a whim, just now, I dug the skirt out of the bag and tried it on.

It fits.

It's tight and I can't sit down in it very well, and I'd probably be unhappy if I went out for a whole night of square dancing. But then, it's been so long since I went square dancing that I'd be unhappy after a whole night anyway. It fits. My best square dancing skirt, that I loved and kept for almost five years despite being too big to wear it, fits.

Somehow, this is cooler than any other milestone I've seen pass me by so far. I can wear my favourite dancing skirt again.

Yay.
