It is a damp, damp morning. The entire world is awash with rain -- or at least it feels that way to me, and who am I to argue? I traveled with umbrella and coat, and I still feel like every inch of me has acquired at least a nodding acquaintance with the rain.
Speaking of umbrellas: last night, following my weekly stop at the comic book store, I realized that my umbrella was no longer in evidence. Oh, no! I love my electric yellow Sailor Moon umbrella, and was distraught to realize that I didn't know whether I'd left it in the comic store or on the bus. I legged it back to the comic store, where I was greeted by a merry chorus from all the employees on duty -- "It's by the door, Seanan."
Think they know me a little too well there?
I picked up the new issue of 'Exiles', which left me ish, the third 'Girl Genius' trade paperback, and the first volume of 'The Walking Dead', which I will be subjecting various people to, because dude, it totally rocks.
You know you have a good comic book store when the clerk can not only argue conclusively that Johrlac demons don't have hearts, but can make it make a degree of biologically feasible sense.
My Weight Watchers meeting was packed to the point of being stupid-full; they weren't kidding when they said that membership plummets over the holidays and then surges with the new year. I can't say that I necessarily liked the population explosion, especially since everyone was wet and smelled faintly of cloakroom. Hopefully it'll slack off again.
Blackberries in January -- on sale cheap at both Safeway and Trader Joe's -- are one of the small rewards for living in California. I think the one thing I'll never adjust to about living anywhere else is the price of produce. The UK has prices in line with what I consider 'normal' on about half the veg section, but nowhere else has really come close.
So it is another day. I can't say another day has dawned, because the sun is nowhere in evidence, but it's another day.
And that's cool by me.
