At the end of the year...

Today has been unreservedly lazy. My back feels as if it's made of live scorpions after yesterday's travel marathon, and so -- since the world is closed today for somebody's birthday -- I've spent the day sitting around, reading vast numbers of comic books and editing the material I wrote on the plane, which shows the usual strong lines cluttered by 'we hit turbulance here, so I rephrased the previous three sentences while trying frantically to keep my laptop from landing in the aisle' artifacting. Things are moving again, and I feel very good about this directional shift in the book.

(I still can't get Viv talking to the Internet, which means that those of you who usually proofread for me will have to wait until Jon gets home and can somehow mysteriously make the wireless communicate with my laptop. This will happen tomorrow night, ish.)

The yuletide stories are up! I still can't admit which one I wrote, but liked the one that I received, and have been having a swell time reading through the archives of this year's goodies. Always a fun unwrapping. I'll have to remember to do this again next year, and to pimp it a little earlier for the rest of y'all. Fic-for-me is a Christmas morning happy.

Stores being closed has resulted in some interesting food choices on my part today, mostly revolving around dry raisin bran, because dry raisin bran is both a) available, and b) something that I'm willing to eat. Adding dried cranberries makes it a little kickier. I only wish we had some milk -- there's Merav's 'this is not milk' soy-stuff, but I can't take the taste of it, and thus have to crunch dry flakes and yearn for an open convenience store. Which I probably wouldn't have gone to anyway, between my back and the cold.

Merav has Richard Simmons DVDs. I am envious.

And that is the state of my union.
