So there's currently an ad campaign in San Francisco for...um...I think for converting to Islam? Maybe it's just for being understanding of Islam. I really don't know. It's these big banner ads on the sides of buses that say 'ISLAM: Because you deserve to know,' and that sort of thing. Since the ads are pleasant and use patriotic-themed colors, I'm assuming it's not 'grr fear Islam,' but is, rather, 'join our church and avoid eternal damnation.' That's polite of them to offer, really.

On the whole, I do approve of churches trying to politely tell me not to burn forever. Not that I'm particularly worried about burning forever, mind you; I just think it's nice of folks to say 'yo, you're sticking your hand into the rattlesnake, and by rattlesnake, we mean the Devil.' That being said, I do not approve of people waking me up on the train to tell me that my soul needs saving. No, seriously. Waking me up for anything short of an actual rattlesnake, or other life-threatening danger, is really not okay. (Maybe if I was about to sleep past my stop, but you'd better be damn sure you know which stop is mine.) 'Life-threatening' and 'afterlife-threatening' are too different things.

Also, accosting me in the BART station to ask if I've heard the Word of Christ, to the point of following me halfway up the escalator with your fliers and your Bible, really not okay. I can't tell whether I'm suddenly wearing 'total heathen' perfume or what, but this is already officially old. I'm considering an ad campaign of my own, to hand out when accosted. 'COYOTE: Because you deserve a break today.' 'COYOTE: Because that way, when bad stuff happens, you'll KNOW that it's because God's being a dick again.'

I think I've settled on either 'COYOTE: Life isn't a teen sex comedy. That's what we have an afterlife for.' Or possibly 'COYOTE: Because eternity's too short not to stick it in your mouth.'

Coyote. Not waking my ass up on the BART train.

rant, crankiness, ducks, stupid people
