Literally -- the sun is out today for the first time in roughly a week, and San Francisco has that glorious post-rain 'just scrubbed clean by the sky' look, where everything glitters given even the slightest encouragement. I've finished a Velveteen story this week -- the second half of 'Velveteen vs. The Eternal Halloween' has been posted, providing more details on the Spirits of the Season, Hailey Ween, and Scaredy Cat. Poor Vel. All ten of my Wondercon art cards are finished, from basic pencils to the final marker shading, the last of the Red Roses and Dead Things pre-orders are going out in today's mail, and I finally picked up a copy of The Living Dead, which may be the best anthology I've read in years. Oh, and I found three pennies on my walk this morning, all of them heads-up.
It's a good day to be a blonde.
Tonight is my weekly dinner over at Kate's place; this week, it's going to include a walk through downtown Berkeley, since I told Dave I'd be stopping by the Other Change of Hobbit tonight, and need to ask him about maybe setting up a book signing for Cat and Sooj when they come through town. (Yes, I'm playing street team. I'm a sucker for a jackdaw girl who says 'please.') Tasty Indian food and a trip to a bookstore. There really is no bad here.
I'm in a reasonably good mood right now; I'm just completely exhausted, to the point that when my alarm went off this morning, I gave serious thought to breaking down in tears. It's one of those 'the spirit is willing, but the flesh is considering going off to get embalmed' situations. I just need a few days to spend in bed and then everything will be back to perky normal.
Anybody got any high-octane plans for the weekend?
