(This was originally stolen from the lovely and life-affirming
stakebait, who makes my life better in all ways. Since she didn't put it where I could steal it this year, I have traveled backwards through time and stolen it from myself. Mwahahahaha. I am so clever.)
The Wish List meme.
* Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Jenny/Giles icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is to make sure that these wishes are things you really, truly want.
* If you wish for real-world things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
* Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two:
* Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
* If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use -- or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free -- do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf and to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not -- it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

And here is my list of ten things:
1. Folks to come over and spend a dedicated weekend day helping me clean and reorganize my room. This would give them first pick on whatever swag said process produced, since cleaning almost always results in my getting rid of several boxes-worth of stuff. This might also cause me to be able to finish reshelving my books for the first time in forever. Ooooooo. (I really only need one or two people for this, as I have a limited amount of bedroom.)
2. Ditto folks to come over and spend a dedicated weekend day helping me clean and reorganize the stuff of mine which is presently located in the back and side rooms of the house. Again, first pick of swag. We're trying to make certain parts of the house more livable, and this would be a lot easier if they were, well, clean. (You may recognize these requests from last year. There's a reason for this.)
3. Framing! If you feel really crazy, and live locally enough to make this feasible, feel free to come over, collect something from my FRICKIN' GINORMOUS stack of 'art waiting to be framed,' and make it hangable. Because there's a lot of it.
4. A duvet cover. I have a twin-sized duvet. It's white. It's not covered. I have cats. I'm sure you see the issue here.
5. Anything involving pumpkins, candy corn, or the living dead.
6. The cheerful willingness to acquire Rosemary and Rue when it comes out sometime in 2009. Remember, when I sell books, my agent doesn't feed me to the sandworms!
7. Fanfic what is writ for me! I have sufficiently specific tastes in a wide-variety of fandoms that you're probably best off asking me, although if you want to surprise me, in Buffy, I like good Jenny/Giles, Xander/Anya, Fred/Wesley, or Willow/Oz. Yes, I am a canon whore. In VMars, anything well-done and in character with Veronica, Logan, or Lilly (any combo). Solid, folklorically-sound SPN fic that doesn't slash the Winchester brothers. I'm a fan of a lot of things.
8. Icons! I may not use them all, but I love to have them (I'm funny that way, I know). I need a Dexter icon. I need more random icons related to my obsessions. And, well, just icons you think are good for me. Writing-related icons always welcome, as are the funny, funny Disney. Disney is love.
9. 80s toys. Many people have old 80s toys in their closets, slowly sinking into a deep and incurable depression. I adore the things, and if it's me or the thrift store, consider sending your closet companions this way. I'm especially fond of My Little Ponies, Popples, Wuzzles, Fashion Star Fillies, and Shimmers. If you find me a Shimmer mermaid, I will love you forever. (Odds are that I would anyway, but it never hurts to wheedle.)
10. More help doing sheet music setting for my songbook. Not only do I owe two copies to Interfilk -- since they've already been auctioned off! -- but I'd really like to finish this thing before the mad science album comes out and needs its own songbook. Y'know, next year. I have recordings, I can make more, I just need the people who can actually write out the music. Help?
