Random facts that border on the meaningless.

* It takes me approximately five hours to eat a pomegranate. I find this really fairly awesome, as it becomes both a tasty treat and a puzzlebox that doesn't cause the Cenobites to rise up out of the floor and tote me away to my eternal suffering. A win-win situation! The hardest part is definitely getting the damn things started, though; it takes me about fifteen minutes of prying to get full access to the tasty, tasty flesh within. (No, I don't use a knife to make my initial cuts. That would be, by my admittedly bizarre standards, cheating.)

* Scream Queens on VH1 remains James Gunn's secret love letter to me. Moreso because next week, he's going to cover the remaining contestants in blood, cockroaches, and whatever else happens to strike his fancy. He so needs to call me. (Although I swear, half these girls have never seen a horror movie in their lives. They don't know how to scream, they don't think they should be asked to get naked or kiss other women...what the hell? This isn't period BBC drama, girls. This is the wonderful world of horror, where you may need to have a tender love scene with your mutant zombie husband. Leave your scruples at the door.)

* The used bookstore nearest to my house somehow wound up with a pile of ARCs for upcoming YA supernaturals, and I acquired two of them: You Are So Undead to Me and Jessica's Guide to Dating On the Dark Side. I look at the titles on these books and think that perhaps, my desire to call one of the later volumes in the InCryptid series Spelunking Through Hell: A Visitor's Guide to the Afterlife isn't so far out of line. (Both books were excellent, by the way.)

* Zombies are still love.

* The cats have fully and absolutely embraced their new cat tree. Lilly spends most of the time she doesn't spend with me perched atop the highest tower, while Nyssa tends to stay towards the bottom, presumably because she understands that her ancient bones are brittle and might break. I'm insanely glad that they like it, especially since it's made Lilly stop trying to sharpen her claws on my bed. I'll probably eventually get them a second, smaller tree for my bedroom, but that's a stunt for a later date.

* My new planner pages are curried, combed, and ready for their turn in the ring. The best thing about getting them in November is the leisurely pace it allows me to set where 'getting important dates into the planner' is concerned. No last-minute scramble for me, oh no! It's planners all the way. Honestly, 2008 would have been unbearable without my planner, and since 2009 looks like it's going to be even more hectic, I am incredibly relieved by knowing that my pages are prepped and ready to go. Plus, I have nifty black folders to hold each year of data, and they're even labeled with the year that they contain. My little OCD heart is totally warmed.

* Next framing project: I need to get my Discworld Family Values poster framed. Issue: it's a UK poster, which means it doesn't fit a standard US poster frame, and I will thus have to have it specially done. Bleah. I like 'off the rack' frame jobs, as they're substantially cheaper, which allows me to frame substantially more within my art budget. At the same time, I adore this poster, and I want it on my door. So there.

* Hack/Slash is in active danger of being unseated by The Boys as my favorite comic book currently in print. I'm reserving judgment, however, until I've seen the rest of the current storyline (which is being all sorts of delayed by a really weird copyright lawsuit).

* I love the fall.
