What I did today.

1) Visited a genuine Alabama WalMart. It contained lobsters. Lobsters. In WalMart. The universe no longer makes any linear sense whatsoever. Also, lobsters.

2) Rode around in the car a lot. Like, a lot-a lot. There was car riding. Because I actually enjoy riding around in cars and goggling at the things outside the windows, especially when those things are unfamiliar, this was actually totally awesome.

3) Was buried in a giant bin of loose dry corn. I went swimming in corn. There is absolutely nothing bad about a world where I can go swimming in corn.

4) Had a giant cotton fight with Mary, in the giant wagon full of freshly-picked raw cotton. Cotton grows on plants. You may not know this. I knew this, but only very abstractly. Well, here? Here, there are vast fields full of cotton, which is sort of grungy-looking and has seeds inside of it. Seriously, it's a crop. It's a crop, and it's everywhere, and it's...pretty awesome, actually. Also, it makes bad-ass pseudo-snowballs, and Mary is a Cotton Elemental.

5) Went through my first-ever hay maze. It's narrow and twisty and would be freaky as hell if, say, one were being pursued by a homicidal maniac who was willing to let you live if you can only find the exit in time.

6) Purchased a hideous, flesh-eating zombie pumpkin. It's called a Queensland Blue. It's from Australia. I love it like a wonderful zombie pie, made of zombies and love.

7) Spent a lot of time with Wesley and Mary Crowell. I am...so glad I came here. So glad.

travel, good things, social life, love, friends
