Song: The Poisonous Circus.

Oct 02, 2008 11:09

For Brooke.

Boredom's been setting in,
Homicide is losing its appeal.
Those familiar forms of sin
Are becoming faded and unreal.

We dose ourselves with mercury,
Thalidomide and pesticides,
But I think I'd prefer that we
Find something more than suicides...

So let's run away to the poisonous circus --
        The snake-handlers say it's a definite blast!
The Mercury Midway is waiting to daze us,
And all the games wager on how long we'll last.
If we bring anti-venom and use it quite sparingly,
I bet we can survive at the circus quite daringly,
And I can't think of anything I'd rather do,
Then go and court horrible death at the circus with you.

You can't trust the funnel cakes,
The corn dog batter's mixed with lead,
                And just a few mistakes
Will guarantee you end up dead,

But the Ferris Wheel is high as hell,
And if you're not bothered by the smell
Of the folks who drank the water,
                We can merry-go-right-around the slaughter!

Boredom's been getting strong,
Guess we need a little change of scene.
I don't believe it's wrong
To want a little mischief with your mean.

So grab your goggles and your gloves,
Your smelling salts, your little coat,
Of all my lifetime's many loves,
You're the best at slitting throats...

The haunted house is very real,
The drinking water tends to burn,
                I really truly feel
If we go once, then we'll return,

And the roller coasters don't have brakes,
Let's go and make our last mistakes
On the midway in the moonlight
Where the cyanide tastes all right --

So let's run away to the poisonous circus --
        The snake-handlers say it's a definite blast!
The Mercury Midway is waiting to daze us,
And all the games wager on how long we'll last.
If we bring anti-venom and use it quite sparingly,
I bet we can survive at the circus quite daringly,
And I can't think of anything I'd rather do,
Then go and court horrible death at the circus with you.

No, I can't think of anything I'd rather do,
Then go and court horrible death at the circus with you.
