Way more later, productivity for now.

Teddy, Tom and I spent much of yesterday in the fabulous company of the Kwinn family, with the addition of Beckett's mother. Yay! And there will be more about everything we did later, when my brain is working better. For right now...MUSIC!

As is so often the case when I head for Fremont, the trip had a secondary motive: getting Paul to chord and arrange and work up some shiny new songs for performance purposes. Luckily for me, he's incredibly tolerant about this behavior, or I would be very sad, and have a much smaller pool of songs to draw from. Last night, we got the basic chords and pattern set for:

* 'The Snow Queen Dreams.' Seasonal monarchs again -- I really do keep circling round and round on familiar holy ground -- and it really came out very lovely, once we figured out where it was going. I pronounce myself 'pleased'.

* 'Dear Gina.' It turns out that this song is beautiful to listen to, as long as what you're really listening to doesn't include, y'know, the words. Which get increasingly unpleasant as the song goes on. I think it's the part where I'm spitting 'you little bitch' at something close to the top of my lungs.

* 'Fox Hunt.' Oh. My. God. So it goes bang and pow and zoom and whoosh and zip and ka-blowie and bang-a bang-a bang-a bang bang. And stuff. And I'm going to try to convince Beckett she needs to play harmonica with us on this one. Because wow. It's just rollicking. It rollicks. That's what it does. It's like Stan Rogers meets the Dixie Chicks meets a television theme song.

Beckett has new harmonicas, and she requested that Paul and I do 'When I Go' (the Dave Carter song) so she could play along...and it was just heartbreaking. Seriously, it was gorgeous. We ran it through four times, then did Dougie Maclean's 'Caledonia' twice and called it a night. So beautiful. So awesome.

I'll have a set list by Tuesday.
