Totally OVFF topic: here's SATURDAY (daytime).

Oct 31, 2007 14:40

Waking up Saturday morning and still being able to talk -- I regularly thrash my voice by talking too much during my Friday night Improv Workshop, which was canceled this year for reason of 'the instructor is so not in the physical place necessary for crawling around on the floor pretending to be a hermit crab' -- was a little bit surreal. Surreal ( Read more... )

I've had to tell myself no more BPAL until I finish at least one bottle that I have or at least give one of the 'do not want that much' things away. Sometimes I wish I had a second opinion when I get a new one though, I usually sniff at them and do the, "Well, I think I like it?"

Except for anything with musk, (Do not want to smell like randy goat. It is not appealing. I have to keep reminding myself when I think of an new one "Well, it couldn't be that bad, could it? All the rest of it sounds awesome") and white rabbit, which on me smelled like playdoh. I wear nothing that might make me devoured by a horde of toddlers.

I still don't have much BPAL, but I do have an awful lot for someone who has never actually *bought* from them herself. :)

What I find utterly fascinating is the different scents that different people wind up with out of the same bottle. Trick or Treat (candy corn) becomes, on me, the *exact* scent of how I smell after I've just spent a few hours painting slightly lemony sugar cookies with lots of little bowls of powdered-sugar-and-milk frosting. One of the Pumpkin Patch ones, which is supposed to smell like some kind of pumpkin cake, when applied to me turns into-- no lie, I have two witnesses-- apple pie. These transformations are just fascinating.

I need to look up the do-not-wants that I took from Merav & Seanan, and the ones Seanan gave me; I want to compare what the site says they contain vs. what they smell like on me. I cannot imagine, for instance, that the Mock Turtle one is actually *meant* to smell like very subtle, soft apples.

But then, I guess 'alchemy' is right there in the name... :)

...oh huh, I guess it does contain apple. I was expecting it to be more like some of their sea-creature scents.

Anyway, I've gotta get me some Drink Me. On me it smelled like OH GOD YES.

...yeah, I think they've got me. :)

On me it smelled like OH GOD YES.

*grin*

One night when Heather Corinna and I were testing the entire Carnival Noir, she put something on her arm, sniffed, sniffed again more deeply, and gave what has become our BPAL High Accolade: "OHMYGOD I WANT TO HAVE SEX WITH MY ARM."

I was in the car with Vixy at, hmm, Conterpoint? She got a whiff of my arm and declared that she was going to eat me all up. I was wearing Bliss.

I love the Carnival Noir descriptions, but then, I love anything carnival or circus related to an unhealthy degree.

Amy had a similar reaction to me wearing Trick or Treat. I believe she gnawed on my shoulder. :)

It helps that I'm generally drawn more to scents that make me smell like dessert than anything else.

Vixys are low-calorie tasty treats!

There's Carnival Diabolique, which is the current very large crop of goodies, and then there was Carnival Noir, which was a couple of years ago. Smaller, but still darned fine. It's where Snake Charmer came from, and Gypsy Queen; the latter is my favorite tarot-card-and-candle-smoke scent.

Alas, I missed Carnival Noir. Which may be for the best; I already love too many DC scents...

Lo, you are, in fact, thinking of Carnival Diabolique. Tracking down all of the Carnival Noir might well kill your budget for any other perfume for the next twenty years (stupid discontinued bottles climbing in price...).

That = me and Bad Luck Woman Blues, Red Lantern...really anything with caramel, bourbon, and tobacco. Apparently, I'm a voodoo charm.

Heh... Drink Me does that on me too. Oh... so... yummy...

I put on Eat Me...and promptly ate a box of ice cream sandwiches. No more Eat Me for me!

LOL!

I generally try to avoid putting on Drink Me right before going out to dinner, 'cause it would have a similar effect on my appetite.

Oh, and while I'm thinking about it... what was it that you put on me on Saturday night, 'cause it was yummy. (Though I think you said it was a limited edition so I probably won't find any anyway, but you never know...)

I should've put some Poisoned Apple on you while I had you. See how the oleander smelled on your skin.

March Hare does not contain either peppercorn or pear. On me, it turns promptly into a mixture of the two.

Alchemy is awesome.
