There is a winter festival in Mirilnis Bay, on Trill, where Meena is from; she doesn't celebrate it. She never celebrates her homeworld. Siri's, on the other hand, she's happy to embrace, and that's why Siri has come home to quarters that glisten with tiny lights, like stars.
Meena shines more brightly than any. She is dozing in Siri's chair, hair spangled with artificial starlight, and Siri loves her, and everything is right.
Meena wakes as Siri crosses the room; her smile is sunlight. "Imzadi?" she asks, still sleepy, the word foreign and new on her tongue...
And that's right, too.
