Mommy! Buffy's playin' DDR!

Aug 11, 2006 14:30

As is so frequently my wont, I just spent my lunch down at the Metreon, playing DDR as a means of filling my bloodstream with glorious endorphins and thusly reducing the urge to kill people for looking at me funny. This works well; I haven't killed anyone yet.

As I was starting round three of my usual five-song circuit, I heard a little girl shouting "Mommy! Mommy! Come look!" Okay. Not uncommon. Kids love to watch people play DDR, and little girls especially love to watch women play DDR, because we're relatively rare (there are only two 'regular' DDR girls at the Metreon), and thus reinforce the idea that Girls Can Do It Too. I'm used to little kids wanting to watch me play. No worries.

Then she followed it up with a cry of:

"BUFFY'S PLAYIN' DDR!"

...well, all right then.

Her mother came over to join her, and as I finished up the current song ('La Copa De Vida') and launched into song four ('Freckles'), I got to hear a very entertaining six-year-old's remix of the entirety of 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer', including Buffy's valiant team-up with the Winx Club to defeat the forces of evil. It was awesome.

When I finished 'La Copa De Vida', she stepped over, and asked, very solemnly, if I'd do her favourite song...which happened to be 'Cartoon Heroes' (not surprising, for a kid that media-soaked). I did 'Cartoon Heroes'. Again.

And AAed it.

Apparently, every Slayer just needs a DDR pad to really rock it down. Who knew?

buffy, life rocks, ddr
