Monday, I walked to the store for some of the essential components of my continuing existence (IE, 'salad greens' and 'strawberries'). I was wearing my usual jeans, which fit just fine, thanks, and a tank top with broad enough straps to cover my bra (not all my tank tops fit into this category). So relatively relaxed, but still decent, attire

Whhhhaaaat? That's insanity. Yes, you're only acceptable if you fit a certain body type. You're now too thin. Who'd've thunk it? Argh. People are dumb sometimes.

Socially, because we're a society conditioned to think that women whose breastbones aren't just visible, they're visibly defined, are 'pretty', I'm still a fat chick.

Physically, I'm still overweight, because my particular body type means I don't have very good weight distribution, and thus need to weigh less than a woman with a more balanced body type (but of the same height).

Medically, I'm at a healthy weight.

Intellectually, I'm kinda in the mood to hit someone. Totally agreed: people are dumb.

Wow. That was _cold_. Besides, isn't the point to _stay_ at your good weight? Why not keep some successful people around for encouragement that it's possible?

Although I'm in the same boat as you. I can't seem to lose any weight on the scale, but I can see a difference (slight) so far in how my clothing fits.

I agree with the above that you ran into some nasty jerks today. College fratboys have never been particularly observant and would probably have yelled that even if you were just slighty more curvy than a stick.

How about taking solstice in that you have a body shape you're happy with, and healthy in?
