24 June 2007: YAY, I FINALLY FINISHED!!! *CONFETTI*. And with 26 days to spare, hmmm... Now what am I going to do, Potter-wise, 'til that glorious (but also inevitably sad) moment? Well, the movie is less than three weeks away, I guess (yay Luna and Tonks!). Anyway, HBP... Second time reading, I felt a dreadful loss for Dumbledore that I didn't feel the first time. Maybe it's because, having been refreshed from all six books about how all-knowing Dumbledore was, I can't help but be sad for Harry, not having that big protector and mentor figure anymore... *sigh*. I'm scared for Harry too... Ron/Hermione and Harry/Ginny need to make it out of book #7 alive (and they need to snog a lot too ;D). They MUST! Ditto for Lupin/Tonks. Eee, their whole relationship was discussed in practically one page, but How. Flippin'. Cute. Were. They! They also have to come out of Deathly Hallows alive. And all the Weasleys and Gryffindors... I still feel that Snape is good, that he's the ULTIMATE double-agent, despite the fact that I don't like him (though now I can appreciate his cleverness and his skill in occlumency better). I think that when Dumbledore pled with him, it was so that Snape would kill him, as previously arranged. Maybe Dumbledore was dying anyway (indicated by his withered hand) and Snape had made that "unbreakable vow" with Malfoy. As to Dumbledore's unwavering trust for Snape, could it be because Snape had made an "unbreakable vow" with Dumbledore??? The other thing that I'm anticipating is for Pettigrew to make some sort of sacrifice to square his IMMENSE debt to Harry, also despite the fact that I currently despise him almost as much as Umbridge. Argh, I can't wait! 26 MORE DAYS!!!
20 June 2007: I JUST finished OotP :D. Wow, I forgot how emotionally-charged this one is! Poor Harry... He was continually 'losing it' through many parts of the book (caps lock parade). And, argh, Umbridge! Kudos to Rowling for writing such a despicable character. Also, of course, Sirius... *sniff*. I'd be curious to see which parts made it to the movie. This one probably won't, but out of all the distressful things in the book, I can't help but adore this lovely moment:
"'What do you think about this?' Hermione demanded of Ron, and Harry was reminded irresistibly of Mrs Weasley appealing to her husband during Harry's first dinner in Grimmauld Place." (p. 580) Well, I'll march on to Half-Blood Prince (the meter for it is at 50% because I was re-reading that before I decided to re-read them all). I think I'll flick through the first half again before continuing on though. Hmmm... Just realized, I read five books in a month (started PS on May 21st). Never done that before. Cool!
19 June 2007: I'm about 2/3rd into OotP and I'd just like to make this observation:
Both of Harry and Hermione's respective 'partners' have been jealous of their relationship (have mistakenly thought that Harry and Hermione are involved), but NEVER RON. Yeah, Krum was jealous of Harry, and Cho was of Hermione, but Ron never shows any sign that he might be jealous of Harry or at least suspects a Harry/Hermione relationship (despite often being jealous of Harry for many other things). Curious, no? I guess I can see where Harry/Hermione shippers are coming from. They ARE good on paper and in perception, but don't forget... Out of all this jealousy, the one that MATTERS, where Harry and Hermione are jealous of EACH OTHER'S 'partners' or 'relationships' never happens. Also, another thing: Snape refers to Voldemort as "The Dark Lord" (like Barty Jr. did), not "You-Know-Who" or "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named" etc. Isn't that almost a term of respect? Then again, Snape is an expert Occlumens, so even if he is loyal to Dumbledore, Voldemort shouldn't be able to figure it out. Hmmm...
15 June 2007: Yay, I finished GoF! I'm reminded why it's my favorite: Quidditch World Cup, introduction of the international wizarding community, definite start to Ron/Hermione, and Cedric's death. No, I didn't LIKE Cedric's death, but the fact that it broke my heart showed how significant this book is. I particularly teared up when Harry wouldn't let go of his body after he got them back *sniff* and, of course: "Remember Cedric Diggory."
13 June 2007: No, I haven't finished GoF, but to give myself encouragement at my progress in four days, I'm updating the meters :). Btw, on GoF... I LOVE how (obviously) much Harry loves Ron as his best friend. I've just gotten to the part where they made up from their fight:
"But Harry didn't care, he wouldn't have cared if Karkaroff had given him zero; Ron's indignation on his behalf was worth about a hundred points to him." (p. 315) Awww... :D
09 June 2007: Just finished PoA... Damn, I forgot how that book made me cry at the end with the story of the Marauders' friendship (particularly Sirius' dedication to Lily & James). Yes, I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a baby. Anywhoo... Woot, on to my (perhaps) favorite book in the series: GoF!

I normally like the (Children) British covers the best, because, well, those are what we got here Down Under, but I must admit that, for Book #7, the US cover looks SO MUCH BETTER than the (Children) British cover. The Adult covers, I never really like. What do you think?

Also, because I was bored, I did a series of those Sorting House Quizzes. Here are the two best ones, in my opinion:
Which Hogwarts house will you be sorted into?Your in-depth results:
Gryffindor - 12
Ravenclaw - 11
Hufflepuff - 10
Slytherin - 8
The sorting hat says that I belong in Ravenclaw (86%) or Gryffindor (85%)!
Said Ravenclaw, "We'll teach those whose intelligence is surest."
Ravenclaw students tend to be clever, witty, intelligent, and knowledgeable.
Notable residents include Cho Chang (once object of Harry's affection), Padma Patil, and Luna Lovegood (daughter of The Quibbler magazine's editor).
Said Gryffindor, "We'll teach all those with brave deeds to their name."
Students of Gryffindor are typically brave, daring, and chivalrous.
Famous members include Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Albus Dumbledore (head of Hogwarts), and Minerva McGonagall (head of Gryffindor).

Hmmm, that sounds about right, haha... I'm too ambitious to be in Hufflepuff, yet too proud of my integrity (I suppose) to be in Slytherin. I used to be a lot more fitting to Ravenclaw, but as I grew up, I'm slowly beginning to understand that using too much of your brain is almost as bad as using none of it. Sometimes you gotta let your emotions or gut instinct take control ;).
Anywhoo, don't let my super-serious Ravenclaw-like assessment deter you from trying out these fun, fantastic quizzes :D.
