NaBloPoMo Days 8-10
I was all caught up for NaBloPoMo Day 7 on Thursday, and then I got a UTI and Partner got a cold, and everything went down the tubes. So I'm going to take a rain check on Day 7, because looking for my favoritist of favorite fics is just not going to happen right now.
So let's catch up Days 8-10 instead, shall we?

9. Who is your favorite villain?
Um. Ever? Umm...
T. is sitting next to me, so I asked him. "Superman," he said immediately.
"Why?" I asked.
"Because it's not obvious he's the villain."
"What do you mean?"
T. launched into an incredible rant. I wish I had the forethought to record the audio of it. But I did ask him to type it up and email it to me, so whew, I don't have to pick a favorite villain, because this is wonderful and thought-provoking.
All mistakes are T's, as it's late, we're both sick, and I can't be arsed to edit.
Superman is an alein force from outside of our world with power that no one can resist. He doesn't ask for the authority or approval of the people of metropolis before he sets himself up as the unquestioned law in the city. Anyone that tries to oppose or eliminate him he punches into submission like a violent teenage thug. He wants everyone to worship and love him without question, but everyone should be terrified of him. He listens to and sees everything in Metropolis and then he decides who gets to go about their lives. He causes random carnage and destruction around the city and is rarely if ever seen helping to clean up after all his sloppy collateral damage. His entire alter ego is built around glorifying himself and everything he does. He manipulates and lies to everyone that's close to him in his life, so that they'll keep worshipping him as a hero. If he really cared about the people of earth he would declare himself policeman of one city, he would go help solve some of the world's problems. He would get a legitimate government to recognize him, without cohersion or threat of violence, which frankly might not be possible, because I don't think the governments of the world have any reason to believe he'll keep his world. You never see him punching a hurricane into submission to save thousands of lives and billions of dollars in property damage. Instead he's wrapping the world's dumbest purse snatchers in parking meters for the police to deal with. He's like an entire secret police organization in one man, with just as much rhyme or reason for his actions. Lex Luther is the hero. He's the only one that recognizes what superman actually is and what he's doing and the only one brave enough to stand up to him. The fact that we see superman as a hero terrifies me. Apparently, Krypton didn't believe in civil liberties, human rights, the rule of law, or making any meaningful systemic changes that can't be delivered at the end of a fist. Think about it, if Superman was actually alive today. He wouldn't be in Syria protecting civilians, delivering aid, and trying to stop the violence. If he bothered to stop posing for pictures in New York and get involved in the biggest humanitarian crisis in the world, he would probably just zip over there punch a few people random combatants in the face with no thoughts of what hitting someone with a fist that can shatter a tank would do them. Then he would snap a selfie, and put it on Clark Kent's twitter feed with a self-aggrandizing caption.
