Methos isn't the main character?

So I was completely a Methos fangirl long before I started watching Highlander (which, for the record, was last night. ahem.)

Methos was the first Highlander character I ever ran into. As memory serves me, it was a Highlander/SG1 crossover where MiniJack goes to High School and Methos, who's in the process of starting over, is a teacher (science maybe?) and thinks that miniJack is a new immortal.
It's called "A Square Peg in a Round Hole"

I was vaguely aware of "Highlander" as a series and knew about the whole immortal thing and the head-taking and the Gathering/Game and that Methos was the oldest by far and that he was/had been Death.

I knew there were other characters, but since I didn't know anything about them I assumed that Methos was the main character and the title "Highlander" would be given to whomever won the Game.

The goal: To become the Highlander.

Going to win b/c of awesomeness, snark, cuteness, proven staying power and all around badassery: Methos.

Imagine my surprise when upon starting in Season 1 of Highlander last night Methos was nowhere in sight! He didn't show up until Season 3! Highlander is not the title given to the winner of the Game, it's a term used to describe the smarmy looking, self-righteous dude with the long hair.

I dunno, guys. Methos is way more awesome than MacLeod.

(Also, I know, I know. Late to the party once again. Story of my life. Was two weeks late to my own birth. Will be late to my own funeral. Not even going to think about my wedding or any child bearing that may or may not take place. It's all old. It's not LIVE anymore. Doesn't matter. Methos FTW.)
