(I found this hidden in my "stuff to post" folder from earlier this year. At least I think it was this year. I actually don't remember writing it.)
So I have been a Googler since 2002, when my English teacher wrote the website up on the board and told us to use it to find information about our research papers. That's 8 years. I'm quite good at getting Google to give me what I'm looking for. I know to use the quotes to find exact phrases, and to use the + and - signs to narrow my search.
But I adore Ryan Seacrest, like a lot, and he is sponsored by Bing, and keeps mentioning them because of this sponsorship, and I'm apparently easily led, so I decided to give it a whirl.
I do not like bing. There's too much stuff on that page, for one. I hate popups and rollovers with the heat of a thousand suns. Once you enter your query the results interface does resemble Google, but I like the Google homepage. It's inoffensive and calming. Bing just seems like it's trying too hard.
Maybe I'm just stuck in my ways. Maybe I'm a minimalist at heart. But "Google" is a verb, and I helped make it that way. "Bing" just doesn't have the same je ne sais quoi effect in my personal vocabulary.
I'll stick with Google, sorry Ryan.
i might as well give ryan a tag,
