Precious cargo.

I did more yesterday than I do most days here lately.

At 5am my brother Taylor and I left for Nashville to pick up a gravel rake attachment for a tractor he bought on a government surplus website. The trip up there was okay-I fell asleep three times because I wasn't driving-and finding the surplus warehouse was very easy. Once we loaded the rake on the trailer we were on our way back home by 10:30.

We ate some lunch (i'm not sure where) and got back out on 40. A little piece down the road we stopped near Dickson at a heavy equipment auction and Taylor looked at some farm stuff... There was also an 80's four door stretch limo up on the hill behind the auction yard but I didn't inquire about it. We went through Dickson on to Hwy 48 to photograph a barn I had seen on my last trip to there back in early May. Lo and behold the barn-which sat dangerously close to the road-was no longer there. Just my luck. At any rate, 48 is really curvy and is usually a joy to drive if you're piloting something that handles well. Needless to say it wasn't as much fun in the Silverado plus trailer. I got a little freaked out during a particular section of the road and I thought I was going to heave... if only we had roads like that here! Unfortunately all the roads here with any potential are all gravel. Bah.

When we finally got to Dad's house at about 5pm we unloaded the trailer and went to eat supper with Dad and his girlfriend. It was Dad's birthday, too. During the birthday dinner (which was awesome!) we learned that they are planning on getting married! What a surprise! I'm really happy for Dad because he's been in a slump since he and mom split up. After the birthday dinner I went to Dad's and picked up my cockatiel-her name is Yellow Bird-and brought her to live with me... and moved her into a huge brand new cage when we got home.
