Writing group

Inspiration/posture correlation. Twice, now, this has happened.

I will be setting up a writing group at work, for patients, staff, anyone. I am more excited about this, the potential of it working, being something good, than anything else here for months. Yesterday I met MM - former political activist (Brazil, peaceful anti-dictator protest), artist, writer - who chancetalked to me about resilience, truth not in shapes but between lines, freshness and dreaming. We could have a writing group, she said, as we were leaving. We will have a writing group, I hope.

I haven't been in a writing group before, let alone organised one, but am beginning to think in terms of simple introductory exercises, little starter tasks. Simplicity is key, especially given that attendees should include people with mental health issues. I would like, I think, for this to be entirely outside the Mental Health Issues realm, unless writers want to explore that - I'd like it to be a place for respite, a place without formal hospital agenda. I'd be hugely appreciative of any ideas you have - exercises that have worked particularly well for you, things you might like to try.
