I got myfirst -real- job today. I've had jobs before, messing with Continuum Tech, teaching ballet, babysitting...but this is my first real one. As in, I'm not working for parents, I have to be there on the weekends from 8 to 4, and after school until 4.
And I get paid.
Get this- $10.50 an hour. Mr. Doug Fielding is my boss, and he's a Dungeons and Dragons junkie.
If you want to see what it is that I'm doing, its at autodemo.com. I'm making a demo for the company ZirMed on how to use their website. Its exactly the kind of thing I love to do. They showed me the site, showed me how it works, handed me an opened box of software and said 'figure out how this works'. None of them had even seen the software before. It was a whim Mr. Fielding had- he saw one on turbotax.com and decided that's what he wanted to do. So he ordered some software and hired me to do it.
I adore the team I'm working with. There's Mr. Fielding, two 19 year old guys (one of whom, as an 8 year old, had the FBI come to his house because he shut down part of their system. Accidental hacking ^.~ True story, Mr. Lacy has documentation to prove it) There's Mr. Lacy, whom I don't actually work with, but he's second in command at ZirMed, and he just made sure I had everything. Ms. Blackburn, whom I love dearly. She's so nice! Karen, who is the trainer and has the lovliest speaking voice you could imagine. And Bonita. Who's a sarcastic bitch-on-wheels who rocks. Customer Support.
What's really cool is that none of them mind taking advice from a 15 year old girl.
I lied. What's really cool...is the pay!
But anyway, I just hope I can do it. I'm fairly confident I can but...I dun want to let them down.
