Just pretend I had something witty to say here.

So, how are things going for me at school?

Study Hall- I found out if I have no work to do I can spend this time in the learning center tutoring for the NHS. This counts toward my required community servive hours.

PE- We're playing soccer. Indoors. Not exactly exciting, but it was the best pick of limited options.

AP Calculus- We're covering the basics of calculus. Derivatives, limits, and integrals. We had a test on friday.

Theatre- I got a 4/4 on my fencing presentation. Theatre seems pretty fun. There's almost no work, and we basically play games that are supposed to involve group cohesion. Also, we've started mirroring, in which you stand facing a partner, and whoever's the reflection has to do exactly what the leader does. The idea is to do it well enough that an observer is unable to tell who is the leader and who is the reflection. I find it relaxing and fun.

AP Chemistry- We're still doing stoichiometry, and we just learned combustion analysis. Pretty simple stuff.

AP English- We're discussing various schools of literary criticism. The class is pretty good so far, and we get tea and hot cocoa.

AP Physics- This class is awesome. While the rest of the class worked on the worksheet of 14 physics problems, I had already finished mine, thanks to prior physics knowledge from last year and 1st period study hall. Thus I got to play with Interactive Physics a lot. I've built a car with a much more car-like shape. It rides over some speed bumps, jumps a gap, and then get hit by a rocket.

Government- We've been in the library getting started on our research papers. My topic is intelligent design. I already have some great sources, including the webpage of the discovery institute. Reading through and finding all the flaws and deceptions in their crap is looking to be a big undertaking, but I think the result will be an awesome research paper. On friday I was reminded of our weekly assignment to find, summarize, and hand in one news article. This is looknig like it's going to be a pain for the entire first semester.

Health- Pretty much stupid health crap. Worksheets about values and risk behaviors, and a video.

Debate Club- Got off to a pretty good start. Largest crowd I've ever seen at the club, although there was some trouble keeping control and giving people fair turns to speak. Discussion moved from public display of the Ten Commandments to the death penalty.

Chemistry Lab- I managed to top my accident last week (spilling 6.0 M HCl on my hand) with a better one this week. I cut myself on copper wire, while trying to remove a clump in order to get .50 g. This tops last week's lab in that it actually resulted in injury. The copper wire cut my skin, so there was bleeding before I washed my finger and put a band-aid on. The rest of the lab went fine, and there were some cool chemical reactions. When nitric acid reacts with zinc, it releases a toxic dark yellow colored gas. This is why that part of the experiment is done in da hood. After the resulting solution was diluted with water, NaOH was added, forming a vivid blue cloudy precipitate. The stuff was then heated over a bunsen burner until it turned a dirty brown-black.

Fencing Club- Fencing wednesday at Les Amis I helped Linda out with the beginner class. This experience really helped me, and helped show me how to structure a beginner class. I talked to school administration people's about the requirements for creating a club, and they directed me to mr. Greco. Mr. greco was not available, so I plan to see him monday first period.

This weekend my parents had to drive Kim back to school, so I was responsible for Lila over the weekend. I managed to get all my homework done during her first nap on saturday morning, and then I took her for a walk. I fit in a couple other small walks in the day, and she was generally good. People came over, and Halo 2 and Hearts were played.

Sunday was the NHS car wash. I started off rinsing cars, and the work started out not that bad. But eventually it became really tedious. Then later when the game was on we had far fewer customers, and things got fun. People were throwing sponges at each other, dumping buckets on people, and spraying people with the hose.

Then people came over again tonight, and there was more hearts palying. And I actually won.
