I'm alive!

No, I am not dead. I am in Minnesota for sophonisba's graduation from Macalester College. I only got here today; up to this point, I've been working on various end of the semester crap, but it's pretty much all done now, so expect to see more posts at least until I fall into the pits of Prelim Studying Hell.

We're staying in the Embassy Suites in St. Paul, which are owned by Hilton and dude, they are super nice. We have a room with a little sitting area in the front, where I am currently playing on my laptop to avoid disturbing everyone else in the bedroom; I don't sleep well in strange places, so I need to be really exhausted before I even bother to try. It's funny, I almost fell asleep multiple times at sophonisba's seniors recital (graduating seniors with music majors, minors, or just a record of participation in the music department--sophonisba falls into the last category), but once we got back here, even after taking NyQuil for the Death Cold (yes, it persists), I found myself Not Tired Enough. Blech.

My parents are heading home on Sunday, dropping me off in Madison; unfortunately it will probably be just as slow going as it was getting here, thanks to all the highway construction. And the horrendous weather. It RAIN-SNOWED in Madison last night, people. The fucking 11th of May.

Now I do feel kind of tired. Is it a trick? If I try to go to bed, will I only bolt awake? I have to share with Hannah. I hate sharing a bed and worrying that my tossing and turning is keeping someone ELSE awake, too.

I am wearing my fetching little brown suit to the graduation. I bought it on sale on State Street a couple of months ago; this is my first opportunity to wear it. I think my hair will complement it nicely. Tonight I was wearing my "I'm blogging this" t-shirt and it generated vaguely unsettled remarks from numerous people at the reception after the recital. Not as bad as telling people you're a conversation analyst, though.
